Let’s just start by saying I love a cape and a poncho! Anybody who knows me well, knows I love a cape, but let’s face it, everyday life doesn’t allow you go around wearing one unless you are a rock star or live a fab Gothic lifestyle. It’s definitely one of the reasons I love Halloween so much, I can wear a cape! If you weren’t lucky enough to dress up as a super hero or magical medieval princess this Halloween, opt for an everyday, not so ordinary, cape or poncho to express your secret super powers.
Not the ones we wore back in the day, but the stylish silhouettes you can find now. They gained popularity a few seasons back, but they seem to be back this year. It must be that they are so cozy (we all love a great coat or sweater, right?) and look great for Fall and Winter with our favorite denim, corduroy, or velvet jeans and boots.
To make a serious statement, this fierce red Military Inspired Cape Coat would be a great Winter addition to your coat wardrobe. As rich and luxurious as this looks, it’s under $200.00 and available in several other colors (and handmade from an Etsy seller!)
For a classic preppy look, this J. Crew Camel cape coat is just what you need. It’s currently sold out on the website, but will hopefully be back soon. For an alternative I did find this one available at Saks here .
Irish Aran Knit
For a sweater poncho, you can’t go wrong with an Irish Fisherman’s Style. Every Fall and Winter season, I seem to get a hankering for a few sweaters in this knit style!
This pullover is tailored enough to wear to the office or pair it with your favorite jeans for a casual look. Similar look on Etsy here .
You can’t go wrong with a charcoal knit! This is definitely a casual weekend look, but it will surely be a go to with your favorite leggings and boots.
This is another great look from Michael Kors, purely inspiration as it is no longer available. Don’t you love the leather accent pockets?
Seriously, how cool is this look for a Fall evening out? This sweater pairs perfectly with the leather legging and would look great with a sexy heeled pair of ankle books. This Helmut Lang poncho from Saks Fifth Avenue is sold out unfortunately, but I’ve found a similar look available here.
For the Do-It-Yourself Knitter
Here is a pattern for you and your daughter! This is a gorgeous pattern and oh so cozy. I could see myself throwing this on just about every weekend over the chillier months.
Happy November, stay cozy and warm with a little style!
